- Battery stays charged for four days.

Every nurse needs a smartwatch. And men in nursing need watches that fit their wrists and their lifestyles. I’ve tried out 10 smartwatches, and I compared notes with other men in nursing to narrow the list down to the five best.
The truth is, there is no single brand or model of smartwatch that is best for every male nurse. But there is a wide selection of watches for every nurse to find one he likes.
Whether it is price, performance, or special application, I’ve got you covered with these five choices.

Best Smartwatch for Nurses on a Budget
- Battery stays charged for four days.
- Fitbit Versa is O/S agnostic
- Supports calendar updates, notifications for calls, and texts.
- Gives you 24/7 exercise monitoring in 15 exercise modes.
- Real-time GPS tracking for distance
The Fitbit Versa Smartwatch for Nurses is a great choice for any male nurse who wants to get into the smartwatch trend, but who wants advanced features without the usual high prices,
The Fitbit Versa’s battery stays charged for four days. You can cover multiple shifts before it is time to recharge your smartwatch. And the fact that you can recharge your Fitbit Versa in just two hours is pretty impressive, too.
The Fitbit Versa is O/S agnostic, so it can work with both Apple and Android devices. For smart support, the Fitbit Versa supports calendar updates, notifications for calls, and texts.
This watch gives you 24/7 exercise monitoring in 15 exercise modes, plus real-time GPS tracking for distance whether you are running or walking.
The Fitbit Versa is great for your commute, too. It is one of the few watches for nurses with internal storage for music, over 300 songs. However, iPhone users may experience limitations on streaming apps.
Best Smartwatch with a Second Hand
Packed with features that help you train smarter and harder, including the ability to track your heart rate and calories burned.
My favorite smartwatch with a second hand is the Apple 5 Smartwatch. Sure, most pricier smart watches feature customizable faces that allow you to pick from a variety of digital and analog screens. This watch doesn’t.
But the Apple 5 Smartwatch always-on Retina display is very similar to the Series 6. And it’s a lot cheaper, because it’s an older model.
The Series 5 also has GPS, wi-fi, and cellular support. You can make calls and texts. You can even create a second line for a truly hands-free experience.
This model has fall detection with emergency SOS, as well as fitness monitoring.
Best Smartwatch for a More Traditional Look
Touchscreen Smartwatch with Heart Rate, GPS, NFC, and Smartphone Notifications
If you like the look of a more traditional watch, the Fossil Men’s Gen 4 Explorist HR smartwatch may be for you.
This watch runs on Google’s operating system, but it can pair with both Android and Apple devices. This watch supports Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Pay, and Google Play, although some functionality may be limited for iPhone users.
The Fossil Men’s Gen 4 Explorist delivers continuous heart rate tracking plus fitness tracking for steps. It offers notifications for texts, email, and calendar alerts. While this watch is water-resistant, it is better suited for occasional exposure than for swimming.
Best Smartwatch for iPhone Users
You can track different regimens and workout plans and save all of your stats.
The Apple Watch Series 6 is the watch you need if you need to sync with an IPhone for calls and texts. The Series 6 is the most current release from Apple as of August 2022, when I am writing this guide.
I like the fact that the Apple Watch Series 6 is available in 40 mm and 44 mm cases. This gives you more options if you have a smaller frame, and you don’t want a watch that looks too big on your wrist.
The screen of this watch is 30 percent larger than the older Series 3, which is still available and popular. The always-on Retina Display gives you outstanding color and resolution.
I like the fact that the Apple Watch Series 6 logs sleep and exercise. It also has optical hard sensors to track blood O2 levels and can even run an EKG through an Apple app.
This model also supports contactless payment through Apple Pay. It has a longer battery life than most watches that have the Android Wear operating system. But be aware that Apple watches only work with Apple apps.
Best Smartwatch for Looking Sharp
- Preloaded with Android Wear 2.0.
- Google assistant support.
The first thing you will notice about the LG Electronics LGW270 SmartWatch is that it looks more like jewelry than a smart watch.
This sleek, artfully designed smartwatch comes preloaded with Android Wear 2.0 and Google assistant support. But it’s battery life is only so-so, it doesn’t have GPS, it’s not water- or patient-fluid resistant, and it has no features for monitoring fitness or heart rate.
So, Which Smartwatch Is Best for Male Nurses?
The honest answer is, “It depends.”
Apple watches are loaded with features. But not everybody likes their design, and they are pricey.
Fitbit watches are great for monitoring health and fitness. They don’t have as many features as Apple, but they come at a more favorable price point. And they are very good at what they do.
And LG looks great.
Consider your price point, and what you need your watch to do for you, and then choose any of these terrific smart watches for male nurses!
